The Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 12-Inch Skillet: The Most Important Pan in Your Kitchen

    I grew up on an Indian Reserve here is the U.S.,
    and cooking on cast iron was “normal”.
    (we didn’t have anything else)

    Last year I went and bought a Lodge Logic
    4 qt dutch oven and a 12 inch griddle.
    Both get used a couple of times per week.

    I cook beans, biscuits, cornbread and most other things in the dutch oven…and that griddle ROCKS!

  • Congratulations on your website, which I learned about from your daughter’s email.

    I am a full blooded cast iron cook and have been since year one. It’s the best, and I’m happy to see your website is keeping the faith.

    If you have a cast iron dutch oven (who in their right mind doesn’t?) you might want to wander over to my website (edited as hyperlink is with name) for a great bread recipe. I have been using my cast iron dutch oven to make our daily bread for over a year. It has made our lives so much better.

    If you want to use the recipe on this website to promote cast iron dutch ovens that’s ok with me, as long as you link to my site. This is not a huge commercial operation. I just love spreading the word about home bread baking, and now also about cast iron dutch ovens.

    I’m a big fan of cast Iron Skillets and a Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned would be a great addition to any kitchen. A great gift idea also. If a person has not seasoned an iron skillet before this is definitely the way to go. Many people have never used an iron skillet. They may think of them as out dated, feel how much they weigh and opt for a light weight pan or think they want a non-stick pan.

    Food tastes better when cooked in an iron skillet. If the skillet is seasoned correctly it is easy to clean. They have wonderful heat distribution properties and retain the heat better than anything else. Iron skillets have been used longer than any of us have been alive. In fact I have four iron skillets that are older than I am and I’m in my fifties.

    Both my parents cooked. I learned how to season an iron skillet and proper care from my father. One of my favorites my mother would make was Pineapple Upside Down Cake in an iron skillet. I really had some great memories when I read your post, thanks!

    When making Pineapple Upside Down Cake we place a cake dish on top of the warm skillet and then flip them over together. The Pineapple Upside Down Cake drops right out on the plate. I see the Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 12-Inch Skillet has an additional handle. This extra handle feature would make flipping that much easier.
